I am a CMS fanatic like WordPress and Joomla because for small and medium scale needs the features are still kicking. But I realized that one day WordPress could lose its prestige. And there may be more sophisticated competitors.
WordPress has ERP plugins which also have their limitations, given the variety of users spread across the globe, with different needs.
The template system should not be set for the front-end application. Instead, it must be flexible according to business needs and the information you want to display.
In the future, I wouldn’t be surprised if WordPress will still just remain a flexible blogging platform or CMS.
But to be an all-in-one system for all applications… nope!
The current and future programming trends are low-code environments and visual code applications.
In simple language, everyone in the future will be able to design the application that they need with very little programming knowledge or even just drag and drop visualization.

However, using tools that can get the job done efficiently is everyone’s desire. The results may have pros and cons, but the reuse policy is based on individual needs.
