Twitter reportedly will soon add an edit button on their platform. This was announced through an official tweet posting from Twitter. As the name implies, this button allows users to edit tweet posts that they have previously created.
During this time, if a user had an error on a tweet post, they couldn’t change the past. If desired, users can only delete tweets and create new tweet posts.
Many users have been wanting this feature on Twitter for a long time, and finally, the new Twitter will bring this feature soon. The new Edit button feature will be tested on Twitter Blue users shortly.
Twitter considered many things in presenting the Edit button feature. The Edit button feature should be made in a way that is safe for users. Jay Sullivan, Head of Consumer Product at Twitter, said, “If there is no time limit, control, and transparency of what has been changed, the edit feature can be abused.”
Interestingly, the announcement of this edit button feature was right after Elon Musk gave the poll via his tweet post. There, Elon Musk asked Twitter users if Twitter should have an edit feature. And about 74% of those polled voted “yes.”
But Twitter denies that the feature is presented based on the results of a poll conducted by Elon Musk. Twitter said that they had been planning to launch an edit feature since last year. With the addition of this button, hopefully, in the future, we won’t have to worry anymore if there are typos or the like in the tweets that we upload.
